(1) How did the reading make you feel? Share what emotions you felt and explain why?

(2) Who do you think is the most important character and why do you say that?

(3) Which character do you like the best and why?

(4) If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with a character from your book, who would it be? Why? Who would be your last pick? Why?

(5) You have things in your life that you value, such as friends, sports, free time, etc. What 2 or 3 things does your main character value? Explain why. Now compare the character's values with yours?

(6) What in your reading would you like to talk about with your teacher?  Why?

(7) As you were reading, was there a moment in the story that reminded you of something you have done or felt in your life? Explain and be sure to share examples.

(8) Did your feelings change about anything as you were reading?  What was it and why do you say this?

(9) What do you think was the most important or the most interesting part of your story? Why do you say this?

(10) If you could personally talk to the author of the story, what would you ask/say to him/her?  Why would you choose these questions and/or comments?

(11) Predict what will happen next in the story and why you think that. Be sure to include what clues or actions lead you to make this prediction.

(12) If anything about the plot, setting, or characters surprised you when you were reading, write about it. Explain why that particular part of the book surprised you.

(13) As a fourth grader, you are always making decisions. Think about some of your decisions and compare these to the decisions made by a character in your book. Are the decisions alike? Different? Explain.

(14) Find a setting in the book that drew you in with the details. Write the words/phrases/sentences that were written by the author that you liked and tell why.
