The Place of Dreams

By

 Kelsey M.

In a temple far away, there is a goddess. Her name is Tuckahoe.  In the temple, is her assistant, Tess.  Tess talks for her and performs all of her magic.  Tess is so famous that they drew her picture on the temple sitting on top of three books, which were about her favorite subjects; science, history, and math.  Tess is special because she can make dreams come true for people.  If you had a dream, you could go there and tell it to Tess. Tess would then tell Tuckahoe, who would make the dream come true.  If it didn’t come true immediately, that just meant that Tuckahoe would take care of it in the near future.

However, there was one dream that Tess and Tuckahoe hated. It was GREED.  Greed made Tess and Tuckahoe angry.  In the beginning, they had been so stupid for not realizing that many little boys have dreams about greed.  Many boys wished for millions of dollars, cars, and mansions.

There was one boy who they hated to see.  His name was Jeff.  The only type of dream Jeff had were dreams about being a computer technician and with all that money he would buy a mansion with a pool, pool table, arcade, and a home theater system with a satellite.  Ever since he came in with that dream, he has been forbidden from the temple as well as other greedy little boys.  Although some people have still made attempts to wish for greedy items, Tess and Tuckahoe are now prepared for them.  They hired the God of Wind to blow people out of the temple when they try to be greedy.

Tess and Tuckahoe still work together even today.  If you ever come by the temple, you can see many people making their wishes.  However, they all know never to wish for greedy items.  Tuckahoe and Tess believe in wishes that will help benefit all of society.  Greed is certainly not one of them.

The Dumb Drop-Out and the Magical Tree House

By

Amanda E.

Once there was a dumb dropout. His name was Bob and he was 17 years old. One day, he was walking down the street looking for a home and then, he saw a tree house. “I think I will live there,” he said.  He went inside of it and made himself at home. “It is good,” he said. He said it with very poor grammar.  I guess this is what happens when you drop out of school. He laid down his stuff and then went to go get some food.

While he was getting some food, he saw some kids playing. He noticed they were about to go into the tree house. “Oh no!” he thought. “They are going to find my stuff.”  He ran to the tree house very quickly, took his stuff out, and hid. After the kids left, Bob went back to the tree house to relax.

Bob noticed a play phone so he picked it up and said, “I want ice cream.”  All of a sudden there was a bowl of ice cream on the floor. “This tree house is magic,” he said. Bob continued to ask for many items.  He asked for a house, some food, a family, and some other things.  However, the one item he wanted the most was never delivered to him.  It was an education.  Bob knew that he needed to go back to school to get his education.  He did. Now, he was able to enjoy all of his new found gifts including his education.  Bob lived happily ever after.

Bart and Bee Bee

By

Mary Jean H.

"Well, it is getting late.  I guess I could tell you guys one short story before we get some sleep," said Grandpa.  "When I was about your age, I heard this story from some friends.

There was this wheelbarrow, which takes baby animals to their new parents.  The wheelbarrow's name was Bart. One day, the wheelbarrow was taking a baby bumble bee named Bee Bee to her new parents. Bart assumed she knew where her parents lived because every baby insect was born with that instinct. However, this little baby bumblebee had a bad memory and had forgotten the way to her parent’s home. She did not tell Bart because she did not want to scare him. Unfortunately, she got them lost in the forest!"

      "Oh no!" said the children.

"Maybe this story is too scary for you youngsters," said Grandpa.

"No, we want to know how it ends," said the kids.

Grandpa decided to continue with his story.

"Bee Bee and Bart were really lost in the forest. What were they going to do?  Bart became very nervous. Bee Bee did not seem as scared and she just kept talking away like it was no big deal.  Bart had enough! He told Bee Bee very loudly and clearly for her to be quiet! She did."

"Now Bart tried real hard to think, but he did not know which way to go. He got so frustrated that he just kept going around in circles.  However, he noticed a path in the distance through the trees. The path led to a beautiful meadow! As Bee Bee and Bart approached the meadow, they heard a loud high-pitched voice that said, "down here, down here!" Bart and Bee Bee looked down and amazingly saw Bee Bee’s mom and dad!

Bee Bee’s parents invited Bart for a snack and some lemonade. Bart and Bee Bee told her parents the whole story.  They all got a good laugh out of it.

Even to this day, if you look in the woods, you might just see a wheelbarrow riding around with a baby animal looking for the youngster's home.

Super Spy Versus Evil Villain

By

Tom O.

Super spy Patrick Star had just returned from his last super top secret mission where he...oh forget it. Anyway, The Chief called to talk to Patrick.  Suddenly, while talking to Patrick, some thugs came into the room and said, “Hello.”

"Hey, you idiot,” the Chief said.

     "Yup, yup, that is I."

“The evil Bob the Builder is trying to take over the world!”

“Is that a bad thing?”

“No, it’s the best thing since donuts,” said the Chief. “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I like donuts. Oh yes I do! I’m the donut man!

“You must stop him Patrick!  He can never be allowed to take over the world!”  The two hung up the phone and the Chief knew it was in Patrick's hands.

Patrick went to a bar to get something to drink.  He needed some time to come-up with a plan.  When he got there, unfortunately, he got drunk and told everyone who he was.  The secret was out in the public.  Bob the Builder knew that super spy Patrick was a threat to him, so he came in and captured Patrick.

When they got to his mega-secret hideout, Bob the Builder said he was really Squidward in disguise and he had created an army of robo-art-sculptures and told Patrick that they were stored in the cabin alongside the hideout.  He said that he would use these robots to rule the world and there was nothing he could do about it to stop him.  He quickly locked up Patrick and was confident that there was no one left to stop him.  However, he made the mistake of underestimating the great spy.

Patrick had a weapon hidden inside his socks.  He pulled out his handheld matter disintegrator and shot the wall. Then, he blasted his way out of there.  He shot the hideout and the cabin and used his gun as a jet propulsion system to get back to headquarters.  There was now no more threat of the evil robots.  However, Squidward was never captured.  Patrick knew that one day they would meet again in a battle of good versus evil.

The Mush World

By

Michael N.

It was a sunny but bad day in Mush Lore. King Musher was going around killing innocent Mush people as he pleased.  King Musher was an evil king. Not even the mushrooms or Mush Gods could stand up to him.

When King Musher left, a teen Mush named Bob stood up and said, “We must stand up to King Musher.” Two more Mush people stood up and said, “We will help you!”

The two Mushes were Reid and Pete. They were both brothers. At dawn, the three Mushketeers set out to find the great warrior Tess. They planned to go to him by flying on helicopter wings. At the top of the tree, that held the helicopter wings, Reid slipped and fell. He fell right on a group of poison mushrooms. Reid was killed. Bob and Pete grabbed the helicopter wings and jumped.

Halfway to their destination, they were driven off course by the wind. They landed in a village of Mush folk. Mush folk were magical Mushes.  Bob told the chief their situation and how they were looking for Tess. The chief said that he would help them.  They were able to find Tess and the next day an army of Mush folk set out for Mush Lore. On their arrival, the folk army, with Tess, slaughtered all of the evil Mushes. Then all the Mush people and folk decided to live happily ever after.

The War in Outer Space
By
Gunther P.

Kaboom! A huge alien missile hit the side of the ship.  First mate, Sparky, went running down the hall with the lights flickering.  He slammed open the door to the Captains Cabin.
"Sir, were under attack!" said Sparky.
"If those machine guns didn't hold off those Martians, then, we must use our missiles," said Captain Mike.
     "O.K. Captain," said Sparky.
                                     (A few minutes later)
"That finished those no good rotten Martians," said Sparky.
"It sure did!" said Captain Mike.
When the Captain and Sparky returned to Washington DC, they went to the White House.  The President was missing.
"Where is the President, General?" asked Captain Mike.
"He has disappeared.  A space ship took him.  The creatures were green, had big black eyes, and they were nude!" responded the General.
"Well, they must be aliens," said Sparky, who looked very worried.
"Can you get him back?" asked the General.
"Don't worry.  We will get the President back," said Captain Mike.
When they were in the garage, you could hear Captain Mike screaming. "Fill up the tanks!  Reload the missiles!  We need all this gear ready before daylight!"
     "Yes sir!" yelled back Sparky.

                                       (A few hours later)
The aliens are attacking us!  Fire the missiles now!" screamed Captain Mike.  Boom!  "That did not hold off the aliens!  Use the human-sucker-upper, Sparky!" yelled the Captain.
"Bye you stupid aliens!" yelled the President laughing.
"We have him!" said Sparky happily.
"Were going home!" yelled the Captain.
                                         (A few hours later)
"We are so glad you got the President," said the General.
     "Yes, we really are thankful.
"I reward you each with a medal," said the President.
"Thank you," said Sparky and the Captain together.
"I guess we will see each other again sometime," said Sparky.
"Yes, I hope we do," said Captain Mike.
They both lived great lives after battling the aliens.  They were truly heroes to their people.

The Temple

pavil.jpg

The temple that was built by John Peterson.

One day up in Mount Olympus, Zeus, the mighty god, declared, "I need a temple, a temple that will be here, up in the sky, and a mortal..."  There was a gasp. "What?" asked Zeus.  "You want a mortal (this is what they called humans)?" said the crowd.
"Yes, anyway I want a loyal, dependable mortal.  He doesn't have to be rich. He just needs to be loyal."
A while later, Zeus had every building designer in Mount Olympus working on a design for the temple.
A day later, Zeus' design was ready. Now it was time to find a mortal.  He used his Loyal Mortal machine. This machine could find the most dependable mortal on the face of the earth. The machine selected John Peterson.  Zeus sent his trusty flying horse, Pegasus.
An hour later, Pegasus came back with John. He was shaking so hard he could hardly speak.
      "I-I-I'm J-J-John," stuttered John.
"Yes, and I'm Zeus. Okay John, I need you to build me a temple. From what I know, your an architect, right?"
      "Yes sir, I am."
"Good, all my good architects will help you build a temple like this," said Zeus showing him the design.
"I see. I'll be able to finish in about a month. That is of course with sixty architects."
"Of course!" Zeus exclaimed. Bob, Zeus' assistant rounded up exactly sixty architects.  The next day he got started.
After the first two weeks, John began to get homesick. He had been in Mount Olympus for two weeks! Half the temple was completed.
After two more weeks of being homesick, John had finished. He went to tell Zeus. Zeus was delighted. It had a painting of a turtle, books, and writing utensils.  Satisfied with his work, John started to turn and leave. "Where do you think your going?" exclaimed Zeus.
    "Home." answered John.
    "You forgot your reward!"
    "REWARD?" asked John confused.
    "Yes, here 1,000,000 dollars."
Pretty soon Pegasus was flying John home. When he arrived, his family was delighted.  John and his wife paid off their debts, moved to a nice house, and lived happily ever after.

The Harry Potter Lover
By
 Sarah G.

Once there was a girl named Anabell.  She was very spoiled.  Anabell was obsessed with Harry Potter.
One day, when Anabell was walking home to her mansion from her school, Tuckahoe Elementary, while reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix for the forty second time, she started to feel queasy.  This had been happening for a while.
The same thing happened the next day.  She was right in front of the school's picnic table when it happened.  First, she started to shake.  Then, Anabell suddenly started spinning.  When Anabell stopped, she opened her eyes.  She tried to walk but she could not do it.  Anabell looked down in anger.  She realized that she was an arch in front of the school's picnic table! She also noticed that she was a portal to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!  She had become part of the Harry Potter book! Now, when every boy and girl at Tuckahoe walks through the arch, they are transported to Hogwarts.

 The Scarecrow

The actual picture of the scarecrow!
scarecrow.jpg

One hot summer day in the garden of Stephanie's house, there was a scarecrow. Lot's of people walked by it. However, the thing is it frightened them because it waved at them. Also, everyday when Stephanie went to water her plants, it had a different position.  How could this be?
Every night everyone in the town made a wish. What they didn't know was that someone in the garden was granting three wishes to everyone.
One day, a girl named Carrie, who was about 13, said, "Who is granting all my wishes?"
Another girl, named Elsie, said, "I don't know who is granting all my wishes!" Everyone was very confused.
"Let us figure out who is granting all our wishes," Stephanie said. We all started to look for clues. We gathered lots of people and found hay and vegetables. This is when they all remembered the scarecrow.
They went to Stephanie's house and the scarecrow waved at them. "So who is granting all our wishes?" I said.
    "I am" the scarecrow said.
    "Wow!" Carrie said.
    "My Gosh," Sarah said, amazed.
Everyone was not that scared anymore because they knew who it was. That night everyone got his or her wish granted. However, one person made a bad wish and the scarecrow became evil.
The next day people were missing vegetables from their garden, as well as, other important possessions. All the people gathered together to talk about the scarecrow.
"That scarecrow is really getting me mad," said Elsie.
    "Yeah...Me too!" I said.
The next day the scarecrow was still doing bad things. The people got really upset and now they were staying away from it. The scarecrow started getting sad because the people didn't like him.
"I wish he would become good again," I said.
All of a sudden the scarecrow became good again.  I realized that he had given me my wish that he become good.
The scarecrow never did stop granting wishes! Two days later the scarecrow promised just to grant good wishes not bad ones. The people started to give him vegetables and hay from their gardens. Now the scarecrow came out more often and he made lots of friends. At an orphanage, he gave the kids food, clothes, and toys.  We were all so lucky to have such a great friend.

Agent 4
The Second Adventure
By
Petey M.

It's been a few weeks since our last adventure. We became agents, rescued Mini Oreo (Agent 4) our class gerbil from Reid, and trapped the mad scientist in his own dungeon.  Now we are well rested and ready for any challenge that faces us.  Especially this Domino's pizza sitting in front of us!
BEEP! BEEP! It was coming from the caller I.D. phone. It had M.O.A. 4 across it. I knew I had no time to waste. I rushed to the classroom. Tom and Michael were already there.
"Good, you are all here. I must talk to all of you. I have appointed a new agent. Agent 15!" Agent 4 called.
Gunther jumped out of the closet. "What's wrong? What are you guys doing here?" asked Agent 15.
"They are also agents," said Agent 4.
"Well, since we're all comfortable here, why don't you tell us why we're here," said Agent 9 impatiently.
"Well, first, Reid escaped his dungeon and has teamed up with Stephen to create  an atom bomb to destroy us with! That's why you're here! The only way to defeat them is to become superheroes," said Agent 4.
We changed into superhero costumes that gave us superhero powers. I became Fantastakid, able to stretch my body like it was elastic. Agent 9 became Spiderboy, having all the powers that Spiderman does. Agent 7 became Invisaboy, able to turn invisible for a maximum of two hours. Agent 15 became the Fiery Phantom, able to control fire, shoot it out of his sleeves, and walk through walls.
"Okay. Now we need a new base," said Agent 4.
He led us out to the colonial village and over to the well.

well1.jpg

A photo of the new high-tech base of the special agents.

"This is it," said Agent 4 looking at the well.
      "What is?" asked Agent 7
"This!" said Agent 4 as he scurried halfway up the well. He kicked a rock and the bottom of the well opened up. We jumped in, one after another. We landed with a series of thuds. We looked around. We were surrounded by high tech computers, giant video screens, large keyboards, and six generators.
"This is our new base!" Agent 4 said excitedly. Just then, a computer started beeping. "Stephen's outside!" cried Agent 4.
Agent 4 flipped a switch and a screen turned on showing Stephen outside, sitting on a bench, holding a walkie-talkie up to his ear.
"I'll take care of him!" Invisaboy said, disappearing. We saw him reappear on the screen behind Stephen. He picked him up, threw him into a crate nearby, and sealed him quickly. We all went outside.
"So, what do we do with him now?" I asked.
"Let's mail him to Reid!" said Fiery Phantom.
"Great idea! I'll drop him at the post office!" said Spiderboy as he threw a web net over the crate and swung off on a web."
"I was being sarcastic!" yelled Fiery Phantom.

(a day later in Reid's lab)

"Where's that fool Stephen? Never mind. What's this large crate in the mail? Oh! It's the giant lab rat I ordered!" exclaimed Reid.
       "Reid! It's me!" cried Stephen.
"It talks! I'll have to observe this later!" exclaimed Reid. He closed the crate and as he ran out the door, he said," I bet Agent 4 took Stephen!"
Reid appeared outside the well looking under rocks and calling Stephen. "He must not have gotten the mail yet," I whispered to Spiderboy.
I jumped out of the well and stretched my arms towards Reid, but he dove out of the way. The Fiery Phantom stepped out of the well and shot a ring of fire around Reid. Spiderboy, who was on top of the school, threw a web over Reid as the flames disappeared.
Invisaboy appeared, leaning against the log cabin. "Good work, fellows!" he said.
"Indeed!" exclaimed Agent 4, jumping out of the well.
"So, what do we do with him?" I asked.
"Mail him to his lab?" asked Spiderboy.

"Good idea!" said Agent 4. "Good idea!"

The Rocks by the Campfire
By
Mercedes P.

fireplace1.jpg

The magical campfire site the Girl Scout troop will never forget.

On one spring summer day, a Girl Scout troop went on a camping trip in the woods.  When they arrived that night, they went into the campfire area to sing songs and to roast s'mores.  When they were burning the s'mores, they suddenly turned into gold.  A girl in the troop named Mercedes thought that was weird.
The next day, the troop went swimming, hiking, and out to lunch.  Once again, that night, they went back to the campfire to make roasted marshmallows.  The marshmallows started to turn gold also.  Another girl in the troop named Sandra said, "There is something special about this campfire area because everything  we put in it, turns gold."
However, Mercedes found out it wasn't the fire turning items gold.  It was the rocks around it turning them to gold. She realized this because she noticed that Sandra had put a ring on the rock and it turned to gold.
Mercedes and her Girl Scout troop knew they had a "gold mine" on their hands.  They all started gathering items and put them on the rocks.  Sure enough, they all turned to gold.
Mercedes and the troop took all of their gold to the bank and received over 1 million dollars for it.  Instead of blowing all of their money on expensive items, the troop donated over half of it to local charities.  Many people looked at them as heroes because they were so giving.
Unfortunately, the rocks that helped turned items into gold, were never found again.  Mercedes and her troop thought that the special rocks were only for them, since, whoever put them there for that Girl Scout trip, knew they would use the gold to help people who were not as fortunate.

The Recovery

clinic3.jpg

A picture of the new animal clinic thanks to Joseph Smith.

"Yeah," breathed Joseph A. Smith, "I'm all right."  Aunt Annie picked up the newspaper, "Same ol', Same ol'." Joseph Smith has just had his second chemotherapy for his bone marrow cancer. "Oh my!"  Aunt Annie suddenly blurted out. "Mistress Minton has died!" A hush fell over the room. "The government," Aunt Annie went on, "Wants a good architect and builder to design homes". "They're going to build mansions!" "Oh!" "It's time for lunch, bye Joe!"
When everyone had gone, Joseph laid back and sighed heavily, "An architect, a builder." Joseph had a dream, a dream not worthy of that guy with bone marrow cancer that we haven't sent a card to yet because we forgot his name, but a dream only worthy of Joseph Alexander Smith. Simply put, he wanted to become an Architect.  Joseph, almost in tears, decided the best thing to do would be to go to the library and research the famous mansion.  He hoped to find a map of the property so he could at least pretend to plan something.  He called his nurse to notify her he was going to the hospital library, and off he went.
First, he looked in a book with no pictures. By the fifth book, Joseph was getting depressed and had reverted to scanning. Here is a new book.  The Bachelor is Mr. John Niemer. and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fluke are the housekeepers, as well as, the heirs. "Who cares?" Joseph screamed in his head.  He flipped the page and saw a photo, not just any photo, a special photo that would change his life forever.
Joseph rushed back to his bed and as sure as the book in his hand, that picture was the same.  Sam and Emer Fluke, his cousins, right before they left for a week vacation.  All that had changed in just a week's time.  The book was suddenly outdated.  Sam and Emer would have to find jobs.  Joseph read the passage again.  The bachelor is Mr. John Niemer and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fluke are the housekeepers, as well as, the heirs.  "The heirs!" Joseph thought.  He immediately buzzed his nurse and she let him use the phone.  Joseph called the hot line you were supposed to call if you were going to register to build mansions on Sarah Minton's property and told them his situation.
A week later, Joseph was on his way to the community center with all the proof he needed.  His cousins were back, and had the contract and papers they needed.  After a long boring time, the estate manager ruled that the land belonged to the Flukes.  Sam and Emer came back to the hospital with Joseph.  Emer started the conversation. "Darn, I was hoping to be retired when Sarah died."  I have no clue what we are going to do with the land," broke in Sam. This was the moment he'd been waiting for. Joseph took a deep breath and said, "Could I have the land?" The Flukes thought about this heavy request for a second, looked at each other, and said "Why not?"
For the next six months, all Joseph dreamt about was the land.  Finally, on September 1st, the specialists said he could leave the hospital.  Joseph went directly to his new found land.  Right on Franklin Avenue and a left on Gladiator Road.  Joseph had never been happier.  When Joseph got to the property, he stood and gasped.  When he went inside, he heard agonized whimpering.  Joseph cautiously rounded the corner and walked into the room emitting the whimpering.  There before his eyes was some sort of torture chamber for the neighborhood pets.  Joseph went around the room unlocking every pet.  There's the Brookenridge's dog"! *Kink* "Hi Max!"  "Oh look the Billingtons old cat Stoney!"  *KaChunk* Suddenly, Joseph Alexander Smith felt a great surge of energy, his muscles swelled up inside his skin and he grew a foot taller. He crashed down walls and scooped up the debris and cemented it together in a massive attempt to save the captured animals.  After an hour or so, he stood back and sighed. The "Super Man" effect had worn off and he was back to normal.  In fact, everything was the way it was before, that is, everything except for the mansion. Joseph had totally transformed the mansion to look like an animal clinic.  He called the Veterinarian Clinic, Rovers Home. Rovers Home was a booming business.  "Hello, I am Emer Fluke. Dr. Sam Fluke is waiting for you."  What was a place of torture for animals, now turned into a loving and caring environment for them.

A picture of a room where animals were kept until finally being rescued by Joseph.

The End of the Wheel
By
Mark K.

In the city, a wagon comes to town everyday with only one wagon wheel.  People are amazed by how it can pull so many people.
One day, I decided to get a ride on the one wheel wagon.  It took me all across the town.  Unfortunately, on the way back, it got a flat tire.  The towns people tried everything they could to repair it but it was no use.  The wheel had its last turn.  All of the years of carrying people had taken its toll on itself.
The people decided that it deserved to be honored.  They put it up on display at the local museum.  Today, people from all over the world come to see the wheel that carried thousands.

The Magic Well
By
Carrie D.

The sun was shining through nine-year-old Kirsten Dutch's window.  Kirsten woke up when her cat, Nellie, jumped up on her bed and began to wash herself.  Kirsten rolled out of bed and began to get dressed.  She put on her green skirt and buttoned up her white blouse.  She stuffed her long brown hair in a white mop cap.  Lastly, she tied around her waist an apron with wide pockets.  Picking up Nellie, she ran out of her room.  Running down the short hall, she bumped into her little sister Katie, who was four.  Stepping playfully on her foot, Kirsten ran past her. "Hey!" yelled Katie as she dashed after her older sister.  Both girls stopped outside the kitchen and slipped on some shoes.  Kirsten peeked around the corner. "Good," she thought, "The coast is clear."  She motioned for her sister to follow her.  The two girls tiptoed across the kitchen.  When they were almost across the kitchen, a familiar voice said, "Stop right there you two!" They both froze and turned slowly to face their mother.  There she stood, her hands folded across her chest.  Like Kirsten and Katie, she wore a skirt with a blouse.  A mop cap hid her short brown hair from view and an apron was tied around her waist.  She came forward and handed Katie a mop cap.  She helped Katie tuck her long brown hair out of sight.  Two pairs of sparkling blue eyes peered up at their mother.  She looked down at them and said, "You both are supposed to fetch the water and make the beds."  Kirsten turned and started back down the hall.  A moment later Katie turned and followed her.  They both worked together to make the beds and then Kirsten and Katie went and grabbed a wooden bucket and walked out the door.
They started following a trail through the woods.  Kirsten loved this trail.  It led to the well in the woods.  In the morning, it was beautiful.  Dew was still on the grass and the birds were singing.  When they reached the well, Kirsten dropped her bucket in and pulled it out again.  After she had filled the buckets, Katie grabbed hers and started running back, spilling water everywhere.  Sighing, Kirsten picked up her bucket and started back.  She heard a sound and turned around and froze. . . a black blob was drinking from the well!  Kirsten peered at it.  It looked like the creature, Darking, from her mother's stories. . . they weren't real!  She blinked and the Darking was gone.  As she walked back toward the house, Kirsten went over in her mind all the things she had ever heard about Darkins.  If a Darking ever drinks from a well, the water in the well will heal anyone.  By that time, she had reached the house.  "I better not tell anyone about this," she thought.  She went to the kitchen where the rest of her family was sitting down for breakfast.  She set the bucket down and sat down at the table.  As her father said grace, she looked across the table at her mother.  Soon, her mother would have a baby.  She couldn't wait!
The days flew by while Kirsten waited for the baby.  Finally, one night, two women came to help her mother with the baby.  Three days later, Kirsten's mother was holding a brand new baby girl.  There was only one problem.  The baby girl was very sick.  Kirsten sat outside her mother's room, listening to her baby sister scream.  If this went on, the little girl could die!  She decided to go into the woods to see the well . . . the well!  That's it!  Kirsten thought, as she grabbed a wooden bucket and hurried out the house.  A moment later, gasping for breath, she stopped at the well.  She filled her bucket.  Her fingers were shaking so hard she dropped the bucket.  Water spilled everywhere.  "Again!" she ordered herself crossly.  She refilled the bucket, and very carefully, she started to walk up the trail to the house. The trail seemed longer than ever and her arms were starting to hurt from holding the water.  Finally, she reached the house and ran inside.
She burst into her mother's room.  "Mother quick," she said over the noise of her sister screaming.  "Have the baby drink this!"  "No Kirsten, I don't think that will help," she replied.  "Mother, please just try it!"  Kirsten yelled.  Her mother hesitated, then she took the bucket from her daughter and using a spoon, fed the little girl a few drops of water.  The girl stopped screaming.  "Her temperature is going down!" said her mother.  "She is all right!" yelled her father who had been watching.  "What do you think we should call her?"  My mother asked me.  "Let's call her Meg."  Kirsten whispered.  "Meg it is," chorused both parents.  Kirsten touched Meg's cheek.  "Welcome to the world my little Meg."

MUSH FOLK
By
Peter R.
mushroom1.jpg
The site of the deadly battle against the King!

It was a sunny but horrible day in Mushville.  There has been a discovery.  We the Mush folk have found another species living under us.  They are very populated, don't have magic, and call themselves the Mush people.  They live in a place called Mush Lore.  They are living in a time of madness!   Their beloved king has betrayed them!  He has invested dozens of Mush people and turned them into mind servants against their will!  We have allied quickly and agreed to help them in there troubled times.
        "We are in position, sir!"
        "Good private."
        "We are having minor difficulties!"
        "What do you mean?"
"Ten of our soldiers have been severely wounded!"
"We have arrived just in time." (Cody, three other men, and myself show up.)  I am a Mush folk, Michael is a Mush person and Cody is a Mush folk.  The difference between Cody and me is that I'm a Golden Mush folk and I have more magic than Cody does.
        "Where are the bodies private?"
"In the clearing over there," he said pointing to the right of me.
I dashed through the clearing and stopped at the sight of ten wounded soldiers.  Using a little of my magic, I healed them.  Within a minute, the solders were back to full health and ready to go!
       "Commander!"
       "Yes private?"
I was wondering if our troops could regroup?  We have a few cloaked Mushes spying on the castle and it seems that the king has a blind spot.  His castle is in the shape of a pyramid.  If we could use some snake venom to melt through the tip, he would never know what hit him!
      "Regrouped and in position sir!"
"Send in the venom!"        (sizzle, sizzle, sizzle)
"Commander, we are placing the fake top with the killer bees inside it in place of the old one."
"Good job private, lets move out!"  (The men quickly set up the trap.)
"Private, open the top!"  (Thousands of killer bees were released.)
The king never had a chance.  The bees killed him.  The men, who had their minds altered, returned to normal.  Everything was peaceful once again thanks to the heroes.

The Plant that Makes Wishes
By
Carlene K.

Once upon a time, there was a magical plant named Crazy.  Crazy grants wishes to other plants who ask.  Crazy is considered a good friend to many other plants in the forest.
Nice is Crazy's best friend.  Nice has known Crazy for about 5 years.  Nice was sad because he desperately wanted to find his parents.
Crazy knew of his friends' feelings and decided to try to grant his wish to find his parents.  Crazy was able to bring Nice's long lost parents to him.
Nice was no longer sad.  Nice and his parents lived happily ever after in the forest.

Kid Agents
By
Reid H.

Kid Agent 9 and the rest of us went into the clubhouse to relax.  We had just solved an important case for the city and needed some time to ourselves.  As we sat down, the wall suddenly broke through.
"It is I Tutty.  I have come for Agent 9!"
"You will never get him!" I said.  Suddenly, she grabbed Agent 9 in her hands.
"I do now," then she went off laughing.
We tried to grab her but she threw a smoke bomb and disappeared.  However, we had a good idea of where to find her and Kid Agent 9.
"Agents, we have to save Agent 9!"
We got in our ship and went out to Tutty's house.  It was kind of easy because it was obvious that her hide out was in the basement.  We went down the steps and suddenly, a cage came down and trapped agent 10.  Then, we heard another bone chilling laugh.
"You will never get Agent 9 and Agent 10 again!"
Then, she came out with a machine gun and we saw Agent 9 and 10 in the two cages.
"You'll have to destroy my robot in order to get your agents back."
We got our flame throwers out and burned the robots legs off.  It no longer could attack us.   Then Agent 9, who was able to get free from the cage, gave me a grenade and I threw it at the floor in front of the robot.  The robot fell threw the floor and was never seen again.  I tried to capture Tutty but she was too fast.  I expect we will be hearing from her again soon.
We all decided to celebrate our victory at our clubhouse but first the wall would have to be repaired.  Once it was fixed, we finally got some rest and relaxation.

The Gate that Led to Heaven
By
Emma L.

"Anna! You're going to be late for soccer practice!" yelled Anna's mom.  "AAARRRNNN!" moaned Anna.  "I wanna sleep!  "You really expect me to go to soccer at this hour?"
"Anna, it's 11:00 A.M., I think you can manage, now hustle!"
"Oh, all right," Anna grumbled.  "But I'm not happy about this!"  Just as she had finished her sentence, she rolled over to the side of her room where her closet was.  "What in the world!" she exclaimed.  Right next to Anna's closet, there was a ladder.  It seemed to be going through the ceiling and up into the sky.

ladder.jpg
The actual picture of the ladder that Anna saw that amazing day.

"Anna, let's go!"  Anna got dressed, but instead of going downstairs for soccer practice, she went up the ladder.  Anna went up into a sunset sky.  Anna looked around, wondering where the heck she was and what she was going to do.  The ground was spongy and felt very strange.  Anna walked on the unusual ground for about fifteen minutes. Then, Anna came to a strange small man standing on a cherry-red platform.
"Hello, my name is Mr. Parallel," the man said.  I welcome you to Kid Heaven.  Now it is time to tell me what you would have if you could have anything in the world.
"Ahhh, I don't know," Anna said.
"OK then, I'll just put in a couple of nice things for you and hopefully you will like them."
        "OK," said Anna.
Mr. Parallel gave Anna an old, big, rusty, used to be a nice copper color but is now a green colored key.  Mr. Parallel said, "Just walk straight ahead for about ten minutes and you'll know what to do from there.  So, Anna walked ahead for ten minutes and she came to a big, old, rusty, used to be a nice copper color but is now a green colored gate.  Anna opened the gate with the key and went inside. "Wow!" Anna said. This place is like a fair!
For one, it looked like everything was on a huge moon-bounce. "Cool!" Anna said.  Then, Anna started bouncing around the place.  Anna came to a stand that sold every kind of sweet imaginable.  A short fat man sat behind the counter.  He was looking extremely bored.  "What ya want?" He drawled.  "Oh, I WANT a little bit of everything," Anna said.
"Too bad I can't pay for it."
"Oh, but you can," the man said.  Don't you know everything here is free?"
        "Uhhhhhh...no!" said Anna.
"Oh, well, you do now," said the man.
"Well, in that case, I will take a little bit of everything," said Anna.
        "OK," said the man.
"It is so cool that I get everything to myself, there are no grown-ups around, and everything is green, which is my favorite color," Anna said.
Next, Anna came to a wave pool. "Who in the world would want to get in the water today when it is this cold?" Anna said.  I guess I will stick my foot in just to see how cold it is.  On her way over to the pool, Anna saw a thermometer with a stick pointing out of the water.  "Ummmmm," Anna thought, as she started to move the stick up and down.  It changed the temperature on the thermometer!  "Ummmmmm," I don't feel any warmer or colder," Anna said.  "Oh, it must change the temperature of the water in the pool," Anna said.  Anna turned the temperature of the pool to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and got in it. "Just right!" Anna said.
Then, Anna started walking.  She came to a huge, white dome.  Anna walked up and tried the dome door.  It was unlocked.  As Anna went inside, she opened her eyes in amazement.  "Oh!" She squealed.  PUPPIES!  As you can see, Anna was ABSOLUTELY CRAZY ABOUT DOGS.  I, for one, am not that crazy about dogs but Anna was a different story.  SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH DOGS.  Then, she saw some cats and WENT ABSOLUTELY NUTS.  She was even crazier about cats than she was about dogs.  You can imagine the scene in that room on that day.  After what seemed like fifteen minutes of squealing, Anna finally came to her senses and got out of that room.
Then Anna went bouncing along again.  Pretty soon, Anna came to the man she had met before at the candy stand.  He said, "Hi again," to Anna.
Anna said, "I really want some more candy, but my mom would kill me if she ever found out.
"So don't tell your mom," the man said.
"She'd figure it out," said Anna.
"Well, candy is good for you anyway," the man said.
"Well, in that case, I'll take a bag of Gummy Worms."
"Coming right up," said the man.
Then, Anna bounced off with her bag of candy.  Anna was getting kind of tired.  "I want to go home," Anna said to herself.  Anna started to look for the sunset sky.  She looked everywhere for it.  Finally, Anna saw a sunset and the sign with happy relief.  Anna walked straight ahead for about thirty minutes and came to the used to be a nice copper colored gate but was now a green colored gate.  She opened it with the used to be a nice copper colored key but is now a green colored key.  Then, she walked for about ten minutes and came to the cherry red platform with Mr. Parallel standing on top.
        "Done?" asked Mr. Parallel smiling.
        "Yep," said Anna.
"All right then, bye, nice meeting you," Mr. Parallel said.
"Same to you," said Anna.  Anna went down the ladder and came into her bedroom.
"Man, my mom is going to be mad," said Anna.  Anna hurried into her soccer clothes and ran downstairs.
"Thanks for hurrying up, Anna," said her mother.
        "Ummmmmm...your welcome," said Anna.
Then, Anna realized that no time had passed since she had been in Kid Heaven.  She decided not to tell her mom about her adventure and to keep it a secret.  Anna then had a normal life but she never forgot about her time in Kid Heaven.

The Hidden Passage
By
Stephen K.

One fine day, Pete and myself (Stephen) were walking by a well.  When I kicked a stone to the well, all of the sudden, all the stones around the well started moving.  We went into the hole that was made from the moving well stones.  We heard this noise and followed it.

neanderthalstatue.jpg

An actual picture of the Neanderthal man (Michael).

There we saw a Neanderthal sitting on a sofa and eating an extra large bowl of popcorn.  He was also chugging down a 2-liter cherry coke bottle.  Then, we looked around without him noticing.  In his garage, there was a Nissan 350Z, a Mini Cooper, a Mercedes Benz M1350, and a Corvette convertible.  He was also watching a 200-inch television screen.  All of a sudden, the television sounded a beeping noise.
"We interrupt this program to bring you the death of Tom Brokaw," said the announcer.
"Ahhhhrg, I want to watch Sesame Street," said the Neanderthal man.  "I don't care about Tom Brokaw!"  He started to sniff up in the air with his nose.  "Ahhhhhhg, I smell people."
He got up and searched the place.  He found us!  He grabbed his club and said, "My name is Michael and I am going to hurt you."  BOOOOOOMMMM!  He smashed Pete and I ran away and dialled 911 at a nearby house.
                                                               (WEE-WOO-WEE-WOO)
Pete was in an emergency ambulance going to the hospital.   His pulse rate monitor showed he was losing blood pressure.  Pete was bleeding inside his body.  Tom, who is a good friend of Pete and myself, came to the hospital and donated 2 units of his blood.  Pete was able to survive thanks to Tom.
The next day, we went back to the well.  Luckily, the Neanderthal man, Michael, was sleeping.  Pete and I found out that he was a wanted criminal.  We saw his picture in a local newspaper.  Michael had stolen the television and cars.  He was hiding in the well because he thought no one would find him.  Suddenly, he woke up and said, "You two are back again.  I guess you did not learn your lesson.  I'm going to hurt you real bad this time!"  He got his rocket launcher and prepared to fire at us.
The rockets were coming right for the both of us.  I didn't want to get hit, so Pete came behind me while I did the matrix's move on the rockets.  Unfortunately, the rockets hit Pete but it was not a direct hit.
                                                                (WEE-WOO-WEE-WOO)
The ambulance had to come again for Pete.  Pete seems to be very unlucky in all of our battles.  However, he did recover from all the rocket blasts.  Nevertheless, we knew we had to find a way to put a stop to Michael before he hurt anyone else..
We went back to the well the next day.  Michael was not there.  It was very quiet.  It almost felt too quiet.  Michael was hanging on the ceiling waiting for us and we had no clue.  He just fell to the floor and body slammed Pete.  Michael just smashed Pete over and over again.  I knew I had to react this time to save my good friend.  I picked up a stone and hit Michael right between the eyes and knocked him out.  "Get off him you thug!" I said.  I handcuffed Michael and called the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).  The case was closed.
"Thank you very much Mr. Stephen and Mr. Pete.  You have just been awarded six hundred billion dollars from the government for capturing Michael," said the FBI agent.
        "Will you accept it?"
"YES!" We both shouted at the top of our lungs.
Pete and myself went on to own all of the cars and televisions that Michael once owned.  The only difference being was that we paid for our items.

The Old Wheel
By
Omar S.

Once upon a time, there was an old wooden wheel.  For some odd reason, he always acted like he was a kid.  He loved to go super fast!  However, this was all in the old days, when he was attached to a horse.  All the wheels on cars and metal would make fun of the wheel.
He saw a sign that said, "Come to route 57, where the SUPER DERBY will be held.  You must have a lot of speed to enter, however!"  If the wheel entered the contest and won, this would prove to himself that he was just as fast as the other wheels.
He decided to enter the contest.  On racing day, it was extremely windy.  When he got there, all the other wheels were laughing at him.  "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha," he's not going to win, said Hot Rod Wheel Johnson.
It was now race time!  The light turned red, then yellow, and finally green. "Go!"  They were all off to the races.  However, the wind was so hard that the wheels on the metal bodies were not going anywhere!
The old wooden wheel, that everyone made fun of, now had the advantage.  It was going somewhere!  Right to the finish line!  He was going SUPER FAST!  He went so fast that there was fire rushing behind him.  The other wheels were still in one place.  They were too heavy.  They were getting ripped apart like teddy bears in the wind.  The old wooden wheel finished first ahead of everyone.
The other more modern wheels never again laughed at the wooden wheel.  The old wooden wheel died a few years later and was half buried in the Wheelie Cemetery.  Many of the modern wheels go there each year to pay tribute to a great racer.

Medusa Returns
BY
LOU M.

One day, there was a new hotel that just opened.  It was called the Ancient Plaza.  The manager's names were Tess and his assistant was Mrs. Brown.  On Thursday May 22, 2003, they had a customer and her name was Medusa.  She looked straight at Mrs. Brown's eyes and so did Mrs. Brown.
Mrs. Brown turned into stone.  Medusa took the statue of her and placed it in the middle of the hotel.  She wanted everyone to see her power.  Everybody heard that Medusa was in the hotel.  Since they all knew she was there, they packed their bags and left as quickly as possible.  Eventually, even the manager, Tess, left the hotel.
medusa.jpg
The only known photograph of Medusa.  Unfortunately, the man taking the picture was turned to stone.

Medusa took over the entire hotel and even had her sisters come live with her.  Medusa and her sisters soon ruled the entire town.  They called the town Medusaville.  It used to be called Romanville.  The people were truly no match for her power.  What could they do?
One day in Rome, Queen Kelsey Ann, decided to come up with a plan to kill Medusa.  She had a few of her people go to Medusaville to try to slay the evil doer.  One person she sent was named Charlie Micks.  He was very loyal to the Queen and felt that he was capable of beating Medusa.  Charlie never returned from his mission.  A statue of him was found in the forest.  He had been turned to stone.  In fact, none of the men from that first mission came back alive. The Queen sent more and more men to Medusaville, but those who returned, were nothing but stone.  Medusa seemed too powerful to defeat.
There was this Prince, who came forward to the Queen.  His name was Samuel.  He felt like he would be able to beat the evil Medusa and her sisters.  The Queen gave him the opportunity to prove himself.  The next day, Samuel went to the hotel with a shield, a pair of flying shoes, and a sword.  The shield will be used to block his eyes from Medusa.  The flying shoes will be used to quickly move away from her and the sword will be used to kill her.
When he went to the hotel, Medusa and her sisters were all asleep.  However, the sun was rising and they were all starting to awake.  The Prince was caught in the room with them.  Samuel kept thinking to himself that he was going to die.  He was eventually able to calm himself down in time to get his thoughts together.  He quickly raised the shield to cover his eyes.  At that moment, Medusa and her sisters looked right at him.  They all saw the reflection of Medusa off the shield.  Suddenly, they were turned into stone.  The Prince had done it!
Everybody in the town heard about the bravery of the Prince.  Samuel soon became a hero.  Everyone celebrated Medusa and her sister's death.  Romanville was back!  The Queen was so impressed with the Prince, that he ended up marrying the Queen's daughter.  Samuel was no longer a Prince but now a King!

One Battle of Many
By
Matthew S.

The campfire base of the Confederate Troops.

                                                                        (Charlottesville 1851)

"Hut 1-2-3-4, hut 1-2-3-4, hut 1-2-3-4, at ease!" The Corporal yelled.
"I heard some Union losers are coming?" said Ryan.
"Ha, ha, ha," the Confederate troops laughed.
"They are no match for us," said a soldier.
"Let's go show them what we are made of!" said Ryan.  Ryan walked to the campfire post to grab some tea, as Joe put his coat on.  Ryan took a lot of tea from the post to prepare for battle.
"I want the exact perimeter of the Union forces," said the Colonel.
        "But sir," said Ryan.
"No buts," said Colonel James, who was standing up nice and brave.

(20 minutes later)

"Lets go!"  The Union forces have reached the perimeter!
        "Attack!" one man yelled!
Greg hid behind a building watching old Sam shooting his cannon at the invaders.  A gun battle had started and there was no turning back.  The Colonel ran up to Ryan and said, "Go son, go!"
Many casualties were taken, as brave men on both sides died in battle.  The gunfire seemed to be getting smaller.  The Confederate troops were running out of ammunition.  It was one of these rare moments when they heard the Corporal yell, "Attack with your bayonets!"  Men, astonished by the order, did it.  Ryan stabbed one union soldier in the chest.  "Nooo!" a union soldier yelled.  However, before he could turn around, Ryan was shot in the back.  Many men were slaughtered in the battle of Charlottesville.  "The battle is over!" One last man said, as he lay wounded on the ground.  There would be no winners on this day.
Countless battles between the Union and Confederate armies would take place.  Many men, women, and children were lost during those battles.  The story written above is only a small part of what would turn out to be our bloodiest war ever.

The Man and the Portal
By
Karen S.

Once, there was a very poor man.  His name was Fred.  One day, Fred was walking along in a garden.  He found a portal to a different time but he did not know it was a portal.  He saw a bench and sat down because he was so tired from the sun.  He was not sure what to do or what to think of the hole in the ground.  Eventually, he decided to step into the portal.  He landed in a conservatory.  Then all of a sudden, people came running in saying, "Sir, Sir, let me help you up."
        "But I, I, I," stuttered Fred.
They helped him up and Fred went to a room.  He looked in the mirror and saw, not his face or clothes, but the face and clothes of a King.  He was in the King's body!  Fred always wanted to be a King.  He loved having the opportunity to have lots of money.  Fred never really had much money and had a tough life with his wife and kids.
However, after a couple of months, Fred was starting to get bored of being King and he missed his family back home.  He realized that having all of the money in the world was not as important as his family.  He decided to go back to the conservatory to find the portal.
Before he could get there, he saw the real King coming through the hole.  The King must have been living as Fred in the other world.  They must have passed through the portal at the same time.
Fred went down the stairs to help the King. The King said, "Thank you," and went on his way looking a bit confused.  When Fred turned around from saying good-bye to the King, the portal was almost shut!  Fred quickly jumped through the tiny opening and in under a second, he was in his hometown.  He ran home and told his family all about his time in the other world.
The portal was never seen again in the garden.  Fred believes it was put there to show him that family was more important than money.

In the far back, you can see the portal.  On the left, you can see the bench where Fred had to make his tough decision.
